Very important technical improvements:
- Data encryption at rest and in backup - GoRamp has now enabled additional security measures to increase its resilience for potential intrusions or other cyber security risks.
Data encryption is important because it helps to protect sensitive information from unauthorized access, theft, and tampering. When data is encrypted, it is transformed into a format that can only be read by someone who has the appropriate decryption key. This makes it much more difficult for attackers to access the data, even if they are able to gain access to the storage location where the data is stored.
- Data depersonalisation and anonymisation in non-production environments - GoRamp has a right to use a customer data in order to provide the highest level of the service, especially in those cases when investigation of the incident is being held. Also, for solution research and development a real business data has been used. The data, in cases it were used, where explicitly used only for internal operations to provide the service and only by authorised personnel.
However, GoRamp has decided to make a further step towards securing personal and business data, thus an additional measures has been implemented. Here are several reasons why it is important for us to keep with data privacy:
- Data privacy: By depersonalising and anonymising data, personal identifiable information (PII) is removed or replaced with unique identifiers, which ensures that the data cannot be linked to a specific individual. This helps to protect the privacy of individuals and ensures that sensitive information is not exposed or misused.
- Data security: When data is depersonalised and anonymised, it reduces the risk of data breaches or cyber attacks. If a non-production environment is breached, sensitive information will not be exposed because the data is either depersonalised or anonymised.
- Compliance: Many data protection regulations, such as GDPR and CCPA, require data to be depersonalised or anonymised. By adhering to these regulations, companies can avoid hefty fines and legal repercussions.
- Data analytics: Depersonalised and anonymised data can still be used for data analytics purposes. In fact, it can even improve data analytics because it allows for a larger pool of data to be analysed without compromising the privacy of individuals.
In summary, data depersonalisation and anonymisation are crucial for protecting data privacy and security, complying with regulations, and enabling effective data analytics.
